Experience the Mi’kmaq culture first-hand at the Membertou Heritage Park through interactive tours, beading and basket weaving classes, and much more! The Mi’kmaq people of Membertou and their ancestors have lived in this area since the beginning of time, long before the arrival of the Europeans to these lands. The culture and history that the Mi’kmaq of Membertou maintain are gifts that have been passed on to them from their ancestors. Their oral history and traditions are significant and unique when considering Indigenous experiences.

Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 7pm catch a game of bingo and help raise money for local charities. Since opening in 2007, the Membertou Entertainment Centre has donated approximately $1,200,000.00 to charities including: The Kinsmen Club of Sydney, Membertou Recreation, Two Rivers Wildlife Park, Big Brothers Big Sisters, MADD Cape Breton Chapter, Knights of Columbus, Sydney Minor Hockey, and the Rotary Club of Sydney Sunrise. (Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre) MSWCMembertou Sport and Wellness Centre 

The Membertou Sport & Wellness Centre (MSWC) brings the excitment of a state-of-the-art sports and special events facility to the community of Membertou, CBRM and surrounding areas. Attend a Parents & Tots, Senior or Public Skate during the week, or catch a hockey game on the weekend. The MSWC has a fully equipped YMCA if you are interested in getting a work-out in while you are in Membertou or take a walk around the walking track, 5 laps = 1km. The MSWC also accomodates dry-land training, off-ice spectator evens and meetings, charity events, and more!

Membertou Gaming Centre (MGC)

For adults visiting Membertou, there are five gaming pavilions that make up the Membertou Gaming Commission. The Commission operates 23 hours a day, 7 days a week. Locations include the newest pavilions at 51 Maillard Street, 38 Maillard Street, and 11 Chief Ben Christmas Awti'j,  Membertou. The profits gained from gaming are used to assist in the creation of new business and capital investments within the community, and the commission also provides donations in the form of dividends to all community members each year. 

Greenlink Rotary Park Trail System (GRP)

Greenlink Rotary Park Trail System

For the outdoor enthusiast the Greenlink Rotary Park Trail System awaits you! Enjoy the beauty of scenic, natural walking trails just a step outside your Hilton Hotel room, bordering Wentworth Creek and a historic reservoir.  The trail system is approximately 3 km (2 miles) in length, with some longer routes. There are also benches located along the trails for resting. The trails can be accessed via the end of Maillard Street in Membertou (near the Hampton Inn) or on Churchill Drive. There is also an off-leash dog park designated within the trail. Parking is available at the Churchill entrance.

The Greenlink Trail is open 24 hours however it is not illuminated at night.
