Your weekend in Membertou awaits!
The sun is getting brighter, the grass is getting greener and the temperatures are rising. That can only mean one thing – summer is on its way! It’s always so difficult to hammer down some official summer plans, don’t you think? Do you want to make a weekend trip to the city? Do you want to stay at home for your very own stay-cation? The opportunities are truly endless.
Don’t stress! We’re here to tell you exactly what you can do if you choose to spend a weekend with us in beautiful Membertou, Nova Scotia.
Although we may be slightly biased (and when you visit, you’ll quickly understand why) Cape Breton is a spectacular place to visit. Even though we live here, we still love to travel around and see everything our beautiful island has to offer.
From entertainment to art, to comfort and locally sourced seafood, Membertou is sure to have everything on your list of “must-haves” for your ultimate summer getaway.
Our advice to you would be to arrive in Cape Breton early on a Friday – so you can optimize your time and make sure you get to squeeze everything in during your stay. You could start your day off by driving the world famous Cabot Trail, making stops along the way to enjoy scenic views, delicious eats at restaurants like The Rusty Anchor in Pleasant Bay, and a swim in the ocean at Ingonish Beach.
Once you’ve enjoyed the west side of the island, make your way to Membertou!
The Hampton Inn is located directly in the heart of Membertou, making it prime location during your stay with us. The Hampton is conveniently attached to the Membertou Trade & Convention Center by pedway – making it easy for you to get from place to place! After checking-in, visit the MTCC, where you can enjoy a hearty meal of fresh lobster or something on the lighter side such as the beef and greens salad at Kiju’s Restaurant.
The day isn’t over yet! After your meal, head to the MTCC box office to see what kinds of events are happening! The MTCC regularly hosts live music in Kiju’s Lounge and a variety of shows in the Great Hall! You never know what’s taking place!
Now it’s late and time for bed. Enjoy the comfort of a 4 star hotel as you sleep like a baby!
Good morning, Sunshine & Happy Saturday! Make your way downstairs of the Hampton Inn to enjoy their complimentary warm breakfast and then it is time to start your day.
First, head over to the Membertou Heritage Park, only a walking distance from the hotel! This cultural centre is complete with a large indoor exhibit and interactive area. The tour guide takes you beyond just reading about Aboriginal history and instead lets you experience the living history of Membertou’s people and culture. Before you leave, be sure to visit Petroglyphs Gift Shop where you can purchase art and crafts from all over Canada. Make sure to check out the handmade jewelry – it’s the perfect souvenir.
After that, make your way to the Fortress of Louisbourg to experience 18th century culture. Louisbourg is a scenic 40km drive from Membertou – so make sure you allow yourself enough driving time to enjoy everything that the fortress has to offer. Once you arrive back from your blast through the past, you can make your way back to the hotel for dinner and some early evening fun.
Stop by the Membertou Chicken and Deli in the Membertou Market for a quick deli style sandwich or fried chicken dinner before some fun at the Membertou Entertainment Centre. Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday are your days to experience BINGO – Membertou style. We have electronic BINGO cards and the best jackpots in Cape Breton!
Are you ready for bed yet? No? Head back over to Kiju’s Restaurant for a drink to end your evening.
Wow- Sunday is here already! Where did the weekend go? As a nice end to your stay with us- slide on down to the hotel pool for a relaxing swim before making your way back home. You’ll be happy you did!
Before heading out of town gas-up at the Membertou Market – BONUS: we accept Airmiles!
We hope you enjoyed our layout of your Weekend Get-A-Way in Membertou and we look forward to seeing you soon!
