5 Things to Do During Your March Break Staycation in Membertou

What are your March Break plans? Why not stay, eat and play with us here in Membertou!

Membertou welcomes YOU to spend your March Break STAYCATION with US. Save time and money while having a blast and not feeling like you missed out (because you didn’t go to Florida like your neighbour did). Destination Membertou has lots of exciting activities going on that you need to know about.

5 great things you can experience right here in Membertou:

1. Skate on an NHL Sized Ice Surface

Sharpen your skates! For only $2.00, you can skate on the NHL sized ice rink in the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre. The brand-new facility is equipped with a delicious canteen, Intermissions, that features gooey cheese burgers, poutines and all of your rink favourites.

Public skating is Monday-Friday at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre at 12:00pm. For more skating information visit our events calendar.

 2. Swim and Slide

Dart down a 90-foot waterslide and make a splash into the mineral pool during your stay at the Hampton Inn by Hilton in Membertou. The hotel has also created a special package for those of you looking to enjoy a March Break STAYCATION:

The package includes a room with two queen sized beds, pizza, pop and an evening of movies for the youngsters. Four movie passes are also included for Cineplex Theatres. There is no expiration date on the tickets so whether you want to see the Lego Batman Movie with the tots on Tuesday or take the gals to Fifty Shades Darker on Friday is completely up to you.

In the morning, enjoy a nice hot breakfast buffet before continuing on your STAYCATION adventure in Membertou. Did we mention they have the best waffles around?

The package costs $199.00, and lower rates are available without the package. For more information contact 902 564 6555.

 3. Immerse Yourself into an Ancient Culture

Experience the Mi’kmaw culture first hand at the Heritage Park through interactive tours, beading classes and films.

Beading class at the Membertou Heritage Park is at 1:00pm. For more information on the beading class visit our events calendar.

4. Eat

Love to eat? Membertou has you covered!

You surely have heard about the famous fried chicken from the Membertou Chicken and Deli. This chicken is guaranteed to satisfy just about anyone with a hungry belly.  The staff takes pride in providing friendly and timely service. For $30.99 you and your family can enjoy a 10-piece combo of chicken, fries, gravy and two 8oz salads.

During your STAYCATION, treat the kids to an item from the March Break menu at Kiju’s Restaurant. Kiju’s is fresh, local and friendly, and is one of Sydney’s top 10 restaurants. There is also a daily $7.00 kid’s menu for children under the age of 12 that includes a drink and a SUNDAE (include link).

And for your March Break pizza craving, hit up Belly Busters Pizza and Donair on Membertou Street.

5. Hike the Green Links Trail

To burn off some of the delicious food that you’ve eaten, we welcome you to hike the Green Link Trails here in Membertou. The beautiful 3-km trail is suitable for walking, cycling or even snowshoeing and has benches for those who need a break.

We also recommend using the benches for a selfie-stop (no judgement, just be sure to tag #DestinationMembertou).

There is no cost for exploring the trail and there are informative panels and directional signage along the way (not that we think you will get lost…because we don’t…).

This March Break there is no need to leave the island, have your STAYCATION with us here in Membertou.

See you soon!

I think this is a great idea. My kiddies often get bored during the break, so skating and swimming will keep them busy for sure.
